Rolwaling Tashi Lapcha Pass with Parchamo Peak Trek
For real mountaineering enthusiasts, this expedition style trek follows one of Nepal’s most challenging routes. The journey begins in Rolwaling Valley - under the towering Gauri Shankar near the Tibetan border - one of Nepal’s famous “hidden valleys” inhabited by isolated groups of Tamang and Sherpa. If we are up for the challenge, the ascent to the summit of Parchamo Peak at 6273 meters awaits us. We’ll cross the TashiLapcha Pass at 5700 meters, which separates the Rolwaling and Khumbu regions, and descend through the Khumbu valley to Namche Bazaar. This is a strenuous journey that should be undertaken by those with high-altitude trekking experience. Temperatures as low as -20 degrees can be expected at higher altitudes, and technical climbing equipment must be carried if the summit of Parchamo Peak is attempted.
