Baruntse Expedition

Baruntse Expedition

Between the towering Mt. Makalu and Everest lies the gorgeous, snow covered peak of Mt. Baruntse. Crossing the lush Arun valley, we’ll emerge onto the Barun Glacier, a stunning shelf of snow and ice from where we’ll reach the Baruntse base camp at 5250 meters. We approach the 7129 meter summit of Mt. Baruntse via the southeast ridge, crossing several steep sections aided by fixed rope and an ice cliff at approx. 7000 meters. Within the boundaries of the Makalu-Barun National Park and Conservation Area, a vast diversity of plants and wildlife accompany us as we journey to our base camp. The scenic beauty combined with the technical challenges and reward of this expedition solidify its standing as one of the world’s most magnificent mountain climbs.
